Find your work-life balance by taking advice from people who have already found their own balance and success. With the help of lifehack.org, here are three successful entrepreneurs with a few tips for you to consider when seeking your own work-life balance.
1) Try time boxing – Jeff Slobotski, Silicon Prairie News
“If you can offload common tasks, such as scheduling and other appointment setting, you’ll free up your time to focus on the most important tasks. Time boxing will allow you to apply laser focus to one project at a time.”
Pushing yourself to focus on one project at a time will help your productivity immensely because it will allow you to stick to one thing and finish that thing to the best of your ability before moving on to the next. When you box off time, you know that you have that given amount of time to get something finished so you can work to your fullest ability without distractions before moving on. This allows you an excuse to shut off your phone, silence the noise around you and really focus in. When your time is up? You move on.
2) Put yourself first – Jenny Blake, Life After College
“If you’re an entrepreneur, your business relies heavily on your sleep and sanity. Make sure that you are putting yourself first by eating right, sleeping well and exercising (at a minimum). Remind yourself that those things are critical to thinking, creating and performing at your best, and make sure you stand firm to your commitments to all three.”
When you don’t take care of yourself, you don’t take care of your business. Remember that you have to put yourself first. Sleep. Eat. When you operate at a half-level of productivity, you only get half as much done as you need to do. Go into the office each day and do everything that you can while you are there. Accomplish as much as possible, and maybe even stay an hour late. But do not spend your entire life and wellbeing and happiness there. When it is time to go home, go home. If you’ve stayed late every day this week, do not do it again. Give yourself a life and take care of your mind and your body and success will follow.
