Finding time to balance your work and your personal life can be daunting and seem unattainable to some. You want to be dedicated to your job but you also want to be dedicated to your family and your personal time. However, there are ways to balance out your work and your home life if you pay attention to these three tips. If you stay focused, you really can have it all, both personally and professionally. You can’t make time, but you can use it to your advantage and ensure that you are finding extra time for yourself in the day.
1) Focus on YOU
The greatest problem in obtaining a work-life balance is finding the time for yourself. Fitting yourself into your own schedule can be daunting for many reasons. The workaholic wants to keep working and the giver wants to keep attending lunches with friends so as to not hurt anybody’s feelings. So – how do you get around this? You schedule your own me-time into the calendar. Create an event in your calendar, label it “Me-Time” and spend that time working on yourself. Maybe you’ve been reading a great book but haven’t had time to finish – this is that time. Planning time into your weeks for yourself will help you to reinvigorate your mind and give even more effort into your work life and your home life. The balance comes naturally when you aren’t stressed about how little time you get to yourself because you know you have it planned out in your calendar.
You can totally do laundry while you are working out. Throw a load in and go for a short jog before you come back. While you’re folding, catch up on that mini Photoshop tutorial you’ve been meaning to watch on YouTube. There is time in your day for multitasking – you just need to take advantage of it. The best work-life balance comes when you are able to find two things you can do at the same time – maybe cooking dinner while listening to the news in the evening.
