Working from home can be challenging, but these strategies will help you maximize productivity today. Whether it is because you need to stay home and take care of kids, don’t have an actual office yet, or just need to stay home for the day to wait for the repairman – some occasions just call for us to stay home when we really need to be working. These three tips will help you get and stay on track for the day, or the week, while you work from your own humble abode.
1) Utilize the Internet
The great thing about the Internet is that it really has everything on it you need to work from home. Utilizing applications like Slack to communicate with team members and Google Docs for projects or even Github for coding will allow you to work with your co-workers as if you were sitting side by side. When you work with somebody else on a project from your computer, you are also working to keep your focus aligned as they are waiting for you to communicate back and forth with them. This helps keep you accountable, making sure you’re rising with the rest of your office and working throughout the day.
2) Be Visible
When you’re at home, don’t hole up in the closet and read your reports. Spread out on the dining room table or your desk so that people know you are working. People will second-guess disrupting you so that you can be more productive with your time.
