When it comes to selling, there are many different tricks and methods people employ so that they can see success. However, there are few ways to get anybody to buy something. This is okay, though, because you only need to learn one effective method and you will be able to get anybody to buy something.
In a podcast titled, Does how many you serve equal how much you make? by Ziglar, Inc., author Bob Burg discusses the ultimate method to have successful sales. He outlines three strikingly simple steps that you need to take to get anybody to buy something, and if you follow them, you will have a massive increase in sales because people will truly realize they need to buy your product.
You’re not hoaxing them into something, as this is not trickery, but rather practicing a method that builds trust that will lead to sales. “They’re going to buy from you because they feel that they are going to be better off by doing so than by not doing so.” Follow these steps and people will trust your advice to buy a product that will, ultimately, enrich their life.
The first step in how you get anybody to buy something is simply by asking questions. “You’ve got to ask questions to understand.” This seems simple, but many businesspeople make the mistake of not asking questions. They instead just begin to tell people what they need, to tell them how to live their life, to tell them what to do. The fact of the matter is that people don’t like being told what to do. So to get anybody to buy something you must first ask the right questions.
It may seem obvious, but it must be said because for some people it is the most difficult step: listen. Once you ask a question, give your prospect time to think of an answer. Allow them to build a connection with you by listening to what they say. Take in the information. Truly listen to them – don’t just stand there and watch their mouth move. “You’ve got to listen to understand them.” The key to successful sales is understanding your client’s desires and needs so that you can sell them the right product. If you don’t listen – you won’t understand, and, therefore, you won’t be as successful with your sales.
